And when I left to get my hair cut a normal thing that we all do. However, my darling puppies got separation anxiety while I was gone and tore up the carpet in the living room because you love big old dopes like Mastiffs. I am not talking about chewing it up or ripping it, no they removed it from the carpet nails and pulled it back and chewed up the carpet pad underneath.
If you have ever watched the movie, Turner and Hooch you would understand.
They really are great puppies but they had a bad day, which means mine just got fuller.
However, I started this journal because; people want to know about an author and their work. So, the web is the first place they'll look. If there's nothing there to find, so the wisdom runs, that's a potential reader lost, a word-of-mouth champion who'll never say your name out loud. Unfortunately, for most authors, your agent and publisher aren't likely to put up the money for your own website. So what is an author like me to do?
Well, these days most are advised to have a blog.
But that just creates a whole host of problems for the author.
What should an author blog about? How often should they post? Should they post for their readers or themselves? Might it interfere with their other writing?
In short, what makes a good author blog?
Clearly, the answers to these questions are as numerous as there are readers and writers, and therefore so riddled with contradictions as to be almost meaningless.
However, it seems to me that a good author blog is simply a platform and, behaving a bit like any well-made table, requires four sturdy legs upon which to stand:
1) It should be personal - but not mundane.
2) The author should write about their work as well as their interests.
3) They should be entertaining company.
4) Posts should be regular and frequent.
Unsurprisingly, few author blogs manage all four. Most writers have more pressing matters to attend to. LIKE THEIR INTERESTING PETS
THAT ATE THE CARPET PAD.
So I am hoping to Waltz in every day and dance my fingers on the keys and entertain you with my personality, interests and if all going well do it daily. (That is the scary part, finding what to say that will be all of the above.)
I am hoping not to rely on my puppies if I do they will bankrupt me.
Dearest Journal, It's been fun but my 10 minutes are done.
